BREAST AWARENESS MONTHS OCT-DEC 09

Breast Awareness has again come and gone like a flash. This year as on previous years our Radiologist gave presentations on a number of the public broadcasting media about the importance of a regular mammographic examination. He also was invited to speak at the Hilda Schembri Memorial Lecture at the Pheonicia which was attended by a large number of people including the Pariamentary Secretary for Health.

As usual the response was good and 14 proven breast cancers were identified with around 4 others that we are still awaiting feed back on. Most of the 14 were early breast cancer which will almost certainly mean that the condition is completely curable.

The Radiology Clinic's committment to the detection of early breast cancer has recently been enhanced by the purchase of a new Digital Philips Mammography system now in use for almost 9months. This unit further ensures that mammography is NOT a painful procedure and is very much liked by the visiting ladies.
