Liver Fibrosis is the accumulation of scar tissue due to long term damage from: Hepatitis B or C Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD / NASH) Alcoholic liver disease Autoimmune or metabolic liver disease Fibrosis progresses in stages (F0-F4) where F0= no fibrosis and F4= Cirrhosis (end stage fibrosis) Advantages of SWE for Liver Fibrosis: Non-invasive Quick (done in minutes) Repeatable (ideal for monitoring progression or response to treatment) Safer than biopsy (no bleeding risk)
