Ultrasound Chest Wall

Ultrasound examination of the chest wall

Ta' Xbiex

Examination Description

An ultrasound of the chest wall is a safe, non-invasive examination that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of the soft tissues, muscles, and surrounding structures of the chest wall. It does not use radiation and is generally painless. This examination is commonly used to assess chest wall pain, swelling, lumps, soft tissue injuries, inflammation, fluid collections, infections, or other changes in the chest wall area. It may also be useful in assessing superficial lumps such as lipomas, cysts, or other soft tissue abnormalities. At The Radiology Clinic, our ultrasound chest wall service can help provide valuable information for the diagnosis and monitoring of chest wall concerns. The examination is quick, well tolerated, and performed in a comfortable and private setting. During the examination, a small amount of gel is applied to the skin, and an ultrasound probe is moved gently over the area of concern to capture images. You may be asked to change position or point to the exact area of pain, swelling, or concern so that it can be assessed more clearly. Preparation No special preparation is usually required for an ultrasound of the chest wall. You may eat and drink as normal before your appointment. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the chest wall area. Your privacy and comfort will be maintained throughout the examination.
