Examination Description
An MSK ultrasound of both hands is a safe, non-invasive examination that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of the tendons, ligaments, joints, and surrounding soft tissues of both hands. It does not use radiation and is generally painless. This examination provides a full assessment of both hands and allows comparison between the right and left sides. Comparing both hands can be helpful when assessing pain, swelling, sports injuries, trauma, inflammation, tendon problems, ligament injuries, fluid around the joints, ganglion cysts, or soft tissue lumps such as lipomas. It may also be useful in assessing stiffness, clicking, or restricted movement. MSK ultrasound is a quick and accurate test and is often used alongside a plain X-ray when assessing chronic hand pain or injury. It also allows dynamic assessment, meaning the hands and fingers can be examined while moving, which may help identify certain causes of pain, weakness, or restricted movement. During the examination, a small amount of gel is applied to the skin, and an ultrasound probe is moved gently over both hands and fingers to capture images. You may be asked to move or position your hands and fingers in different ways during the scan so that the structures can be assessed more clearly and compared from side to side. Preparation No special preparation is usually required for an MSK ultrasound of both hands. You may eat and drink as normal before your appointment. We recommend removing rings, bracelets, watches, or jewellery before the examination. Your privacy and comfort will be maintained throughout the scan.

Insurance Coverage: Local insurance claim forms are available at our clinic. It is your responsibility to verify coverage with your insurance provider. Late Arrival policy: If you anticipate being late for your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate you, but please note that late arrivals may result in shortened appointment time or rescheduling, depending on the circumstances.
