Ultrasound Testes / Scrotum
Ultrasound Testes and Scrotum
Examination Description
An ultrasound of the testes is a safe, non-invasive imaging examination that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of the testicles and surrounding tissues within the scrotum. It does not use radiation and is generally painless. This examination is commonly used to assess testicular or scrotal pain, swelling, lumps, trauma, or changes in size or texture. It may also be used to evaluate fluid around the testicle, inflammation, cysts, varicoceles, or other abnormalities. During the examination, you will be asked to lie comfortably on an examination couch. A small amount of gel is applied to the scrotal area, and an ultrasound probe is moved gently over the skin to capture images. The procedure is usually quick and well tolerated. Preparation No special preparation is usually required for an ultrasound of the testes. You may eat and drink as normal before your appointment. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that can be easily adjusted for the examination. Your privacy and comfort will be maintained throughout the scan.
